The Oracle Piano Society presents 'Picture Rachmaninoff' featuring Stephen Cook, pianist as part of the Sally Fender Memorial Concert Series. Written by Radio Hall of Famer Paul Harvey Jr., Picture Rachmaninoff is a thrilling new one-man-show starring young virtuoso pianist Stephen Cook. This multi-sensory experience combines the beautiful piano music of Sergei Rachmaninoff with dramatic projections of artwork and features the voice of Paul Harvey Jr. himself! VIP guests will join Stephen Cook along with the Board of Directors in a private cocktail party. This fundraising performance will help the newly founded Oracle Piano Society host innovative performances and educational events in the community of Oracle and throughout Arizona. Picture Rachmaninoff: Monday, September 19, 2011, 7:30 p.m. Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Virginia G. Piper Theater Tickets: $10 (Free for students with valid I.D.) Based on a multi-media production by ASU pianist Stephen Cook, this world premiere of Paul Harvey Jr.’s new play combines the thrilling piano music of Sergei Rachmaninoff with beautiful paintings and evocative poetry. Cook performs Rachmaninoff’s complete Etudes-Tableaux, Op. 39, accompanied by dramatic visual projections and poetry readings, including masterworks by Kandinsky, Pushkin, Vrubel, Lermontov and others. A Q&A will follow the performance.
Stephen Cook performs in a fundraiser for the people of Japan on May 7 at 7pm at the Virginia G. Piper Performing Arts Center, Phoenix, AZ. $15 minimum donation for adults and $8 minimum for 18 and under.
